A rare phenomena was recorded for the 2nd time in recent years when it snowed in Jebel Jais mountains on 25 January 2008, some 25 KM away from Ras Al Khaimah, in United Arab Emirates. Last time it had snowed on 24th December 2004.
At the height of 5700 Feet, the snow blanketed for about 20 cm over an area of 5KM. Snow in the desert land? Pretty exciting isn’t it?

This tourist spot is ideal for developing a natural skiing resort and a proposal is said to be in the pipeline. Residents of U.A.E can look forward to see this turning into reality soon.
